network slowdown after installing Microsoft XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) and other
Microsoft Security Patches and Updates
Many users have reported significant network slow downs using
WinAIMS after installing Microsoft Security Patches and other updates.� Most commonly these slowdowns occur with
users running Windows XP after installing Service Pack 2 (SP2).
The WinAIMS support staff has identified a registry entry
setting that seems to help speed up network I/O.

We are providing a .reg file that contains this registry
update.
(05/15/2006) In addition, SetReadAheadGranularity.reg makes
registry entries to disable Opportunistic Locking.� These additional registry entries are intended to address
problems with the interaction of file locks, Windows file caching and some
AntiVirus programs.
On each computer on the network:
1.
Login as a user with Administrative privileges
2.
Right Click the link below and Save Target As
3.
Double click the save file named
�SetReadAheadGranularity.reg�
4.
Windows will prompt you to make a registry change.
5.
Click �Yes�
6.
Windows will prompt you that the changes have been made.
7.
Click �Okay�
8.
Restart your computer to activate the new registry entries.
